Bade Land Life Plaza
Landmark Life Plaza, located in Bade District, Taoyuan City, is a large-scale shopping complex positioned as a “community lifestyle shopping center.” Formerly known as Guangfeng New World, which opened in 2017, it was officially renamed Landmark Life Plaza on November 20, 2021. The total floor area of the complex is about 32,500 ping (including parking space and the former Children’s Art Museum area), with approximately 16,200 ping dedicated to commercial facilities and 11,000 ping of retail space, making it one of the key multi-functional retail hubs in the Taoyuan area.
The plaza houses several anchor tenants, including Carrefour Hypermarket, Decathlon flagship store, Ambassador Theatres, Pengyuan Banquet Hall, and various themed restaurants, offering visitors a one-stop experience combining shopping, leisure, entertainment, and dining. The fifth and sixth floors of the building were once donated to the Taoyuan City Government for use as the Taoyuan Children’s Art Museum, but after the museum relocated to Qingpu, the space has since been left unused, with future utilization still under discussion between the city and the property owner.
History
The site of Landmark Life Plaza was originally the old factory grounds of Guangfeng Industrial Co., Ltd., established in 1968 and known for producing the “Laifu” brand of towels. As Taiwan’s textile industry gradually shifted overseas, Guangfeng Industrial transitioned toward real estate and commercial development. In 2003, it established Baofeng Asset Management Co., Ltd., initiating an urban redevelopment and mixed-use industrial-commercial zoning project in the Bade area.
Following rezoning from industrial to residential, commercial, and public-use land, Guangfeng Group invested approximately NT$3 billion to construct Guangfeng New World. The mall received its building permit at the end of 2013, began construction in 2014, held a soft opening on December 22, 2016, and officially opened on January 12, 2017, becoming the first large-scale shopping mall in Bade District.
In October 2020, Cathay Life Insurance purchased the mall from Baofeng Asset Management, a subsidiary of Guangfeng Industrial, for NT$4.68 billion, becoming its new owner. The second-phase expansion plan—intended to add 2,160 ping of space and introduce medical-related facilities—was subsequently canceled due to the ownership transfer.
Cathay Life later launched a brand revamp and management strategy overhaul, rebranding the property as Landmark Life Plaza in November 2021. Under its new identity, the mall aims to provide a comprehensive lifestyle space integrating family living, dining, recreation, and sports, positioning itself as a central leisure hub for residents of Bade and the greater Taoyuan area.
