Lake Ashi

Lake Ashi, located in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, is a lake formed by volcanic activity, with origins dating back approximately 3,000 years. As a prominent geographical feature of the Hakone Mountains, Lake Ashi is the largest lake in Kanagawa Prefecture and a representative tourist destination, renowned for its stunning views of Mount Fuji.

Sightseeing boats operate on the lake throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely lake cruise by boarding the Odakyu-affiliated "Hakone Sightseeing Cruise" or the Seibu Group's Izu-Hakone Railway-operated "Lake Ashi Sightseeing Boat." Several ports are located along the lakeshore, including Togendai Port, Hakone-machi Port, Moto-Hakone Port (both cruise lines stop here), Kojiri Port, Hakone-en Port, and Hakone Checkpoint Port, allowing flexible planning with various starting and ending points.

In addition to boat tours, Lake Ashi is also a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. The lake is home to non-native fish species such as rainbow trout and largemouth bass, attracting many anglers to enjoy the pleasures of lake fishing.
