Kameari Katori Shrine

Address: Kameari Katori Shrine
Kameari Katori Shrine

This shrine has gained widespread attention due to its connection with the manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo (Kochikame), making it a popular destination frequently visited by manga fans and local residents alike. The deity enshrined here is believed to bless worshippers with good fortune in competitions and promote the health of the lower back and legs, attracting athletes, exam takers, and health-conscious visitors.

Within the shrine grounds, ema (wooden prayer plaques) themed after Kochikame and protective charms for beautiful legs—especially popular among women—are available for purchase.

A statue of Kankichi Ryotsu, the main character of Kochikame, is also installed on the premises, serving as a popular photo spot for tourists. This shrine uniquely blends traditional religious culture with elements of pop manga, offering an interesting place to experience the fusion of Japanese tradition and subculture.
