National Museum of Nature and Science

The National Museum of Nature and Science, located in Ueno Park, Tokyo, is one of Japan’s most iconic museums. It presents the history of nature, science, and technological development in an accessible and engaging way.
Getting to the National Museum of Nature and Science is very convenient. From Tokyo Station, take the JR Yamanote Line and get off at Ueno Station, just four stops away. Exit through the Park Exit and walk about 5 minutes to reach the museum.
Inside the museum, there is a unique 360-degree dome theater originally designed for the 2005 Aichi World Expo. The theater shows films created with spherical 3D technology, projected onto a seamless dome with a diameter of 12.8 meters. Viewers stand on a bridge in the center, surrounded by visuals and sound from all directions, creating an immersive viewing experience. One film is selected and featured each month, offering a fresh visual treat for visitors.
The Global Gallery is one of the most popular areas in the museum, showcasing over 100 animal specimens, including tigers, bears, gorillas, and camels.
The Japan Gallery, a permanent exhibition area, spans multiple floors and introduces themes related to Japan’s natural environment, biodiversity, human development, and cultural history. It also houses the famous taxidermy of Hachikō, the loyal dog, allowing visitors to see the legendary animal up close.
