At DiverCity Tokyo Plaza stands a life-sized 1:1 Gundam statue. Originally, it was the RX-78-2, the first Gundam, but on September 24, 2017, it was replaced by the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. The most notable feature of the Unicorn Gundam is its ability to transform into “Destroy Mode.” Every day at set times, the statue performs a transformation show from “Unicorn Mode” to “Destroy Mode” with synchronized lights and music. During the transformation, the armor on the head, shoulders, waist, and knees opens up, revealing the inner red psycho-frame, perfectly recreating the iconic scene from the original series.
