Monster Village (Yokai Village), established in 2009, is a cultural and creative shopping district located adjacent to the Xitou Nature Education Area. When visiting Xitou, in addition to immersing yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the mountains and enjoying a refreshing forest bath full of phytoncides, don’t miss this charming village nestled in the woods with its rich Japanese-style ambiance.
The entire village is themed around yokai (Japanese folklore monsters), creating a unique visual and immersive experience. From the architectural style to product design, everything is filled with creativity and whimsy. Visitors can enjoy fun and innovative snacks such as “Stinging Nettle Bread,” “Xitou Cake,” and “Ginkgo Pastry”, as well as quirky dishes like “Lucky Bath Soup”, inspired by yokai tales. A variety of Xitou-exclusive souvenirs are also available for purchase.
