Okayama Airport

Okayama Airport is a regional airport located in Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, approximately 15 kilometers from the city center. Officially nicknamed "Okayama Momotaro Airport", it is managed by local authorities.

The original Okayama Airport was situated in the southern part of Okayama City and featured a 1,200-meter runway. However, due to geographical constraints, it was not possible to extend the runway. As a result, in 1988, a new airport was developed in the mountainous northwest area of the city, equipped with a 2,000-meter runway. The runway has since been extended twice and now reaches 3,000 meters, allowing for the operation of larger aircraft. The former airport was renamed Konan Airfield and now serves small aircraft such as Cessnas.

To remain competitive with the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen on the Okayama–Tokyo route, the airport has implemented measures like free parking to attract passengers. In addition, Okayama Airport has been designated as a Foreign Access Zone (FAZ), or Imported Goods Promotion Area, and features an air cargo terminal, serving not only travelers but also promoting the development of air freight logistics.
