After getting off at Miyajima Ropeway’s Shishi-iwa Station, visitors will find the famous Shishi-iwa Observatory right next to it. From the cliff’s edge, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea — Hiroshima Port, Kure Port, the Itsukushima Strait, and the scattered islands of the Asuka Sea are all visible, with ships entering and leaving the harbors clearly in sight. The scenery is truly spectacular. From Shishi-iwa Station, you can also follow small trails to the Reihidō Hall and Hassen Observatory, taking in the natural beauty of Miyajima while hiking or strolling.
If you continue along the trail from the observatory, you can visit Miimoto Sando, Reikado Hall, Kannon-do Hall, Kuguri Iwa, Fudo Iwa, and Chiman Iwa in sequence, before finally reaching the summit of Mt. Misen and its summit observatory. The hike takes about 40 minutes one way, and around 30 minutes to descend. Since the Miyajima Ropeway has a fixed last departure time, be sure to allow enough time when planning your climb.
