Michi-no-Eki Daiei (Daiei Roadside Station)
Michi-no-Eki Daiei is located in Hokuei Town, near the central part of Tottori Prefecture, along National Route 9. It is the first roadside station established in Tottori Prefecture and was also among the earliest facilities registered under Japan’s Michi-no-Eki roadside station system. Facing the Sea of Japan with views of Mount Daisen in the distance, the site enjoys an open landscape and serves as an important hub combining rest facilities, local shopping, and the display of regional agricultural products.
The roadside station includes a farmers’ market and a restaurant. Most of the vegetables sold at the market are delivered by local farmers every morning, ensuring exceptional freshness and affordable prices. Because of the high quality of the produce, it is common for people to line up before the market opens on weekends, making it a popular destination for both local residents and visitors.
Hokuei Town is well known for its watermelons, and the roadside station offers a distinctive local dessert—watermelon soft-serve ice cream. With its refreshing watermelon aroma and sweetness spreading across the palate, it is a must-try specialty for visitors. Loved by both adults and children, Michi-no-Eki Daiei is not only a convenient rest stop for travelers but also a place where visitors can experience the agricultural culture and local flavors of Hokuei Town.
