The torii gate of Goryo Shrine stands right beside the Enoden railway crossing. It is a historic shrine dedicated to the Heian period warrior Kagemasa of Kamakura. Originally built to honor the spirits of the Kanto Taira clan ancestors, it was later rededicated to Lord Kagemasa, renowned for his bravery. Kagemasa was also the leader of the Kamakura samurai group who helped develop the Shonan area. Every September during the annual festival, the shrine hosts events such as the “Menkake Gyoretsu,” a parade featuring traditional masks, and performances of Kamakura Kagura, a sacred Shinto dance and music ritual.
