Located within Yoyogi Park in Shibuya, Tokyo, the National Yoyogi Stadium is a sports facility that combines modern architectural aesthetics with multifunctional use. The stadium consists of two main parts: Yoyogi First Gymnasium and Yoyogi Second Gymnasium, both managed by the Japan Sport Council.

Built for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the Yoyogi Stadium was designed by renowned architect Kenzo Tange and constructed between 1961 and 1964. It served as the venue for swimming and diving competitions during the Games. The stadium is famous for its bold suspended roof structure, making it a significant example of postwar modern architecture in Japan.

The entire venue can accommodate up to 10,500 spectators. In addition to hosting sporting events such as ice hockey and basketball, it frequently serves as a venue for concerts, fashion shows, and various cultural and artistic events, making it one of Tokyo’s renowned multipurpose performance spaces.

Due to its architectural and historical significance, both the First and Second Gymnasiums were designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan in 2021.
