Aofengshan Sports Park is located on the northern side of the Dadu Plateau in Qingshui District, Taichung City. Formerly known as "Qingshui Park," it spans over 60 hectares and is a comprehensive leisure space that blends natural ecology with diverse sports facilities. Adjacent to the well-known local attraction Ziyunyan Temple, it forms a complete tourist route that draws many families and visitors, especially on holidays.
The park boasts a tranquil environment and fresh air, with a wide range of facilities including a children's playground, a cycling arena, a kite-flying field, a barbecue area, a bird-watching zone, and a historical preservation area. The vast lawns are ideal for strolling, ball games, kite flying, and more. It’s also a popular spot for family gatherings and barbecues, making it a park that offers both recreational and athletic value.
The cycling arena, in particular, is Asia’s first international-standard cycling track. This highlights Taichung’s reputation as a "bicycle city," especially since it is home to one of the production bases of Giant, a globally renowned bicycle brand.
The bird-watching zone provides great opportunities to observe nature. In addition to common bird species, visitors may encounter squirrels, peacocks, and other animals—an experience much loved by tourists. There is also a natural rock cave called Guizai Cave, which is about 1 km long with a winding terrain, making it a favorite destination for adventurers.
The park offers various hiking trails to suit different fitness levels. A more relaxed route starts from Lover’s Slope and passes Qingyun Temple or Prince Hall, then returns via Dongshan Road to the kite field. For those seeking a challenge, trails begin behind the cycling arena and loop back via an artificial stairway by the Ke-Cai Ancestral Hall floodway. Locals often prefer to climb the Shrine Hill (Shensheqi) stairs, which are shaded by dense trees and resemble a green tunnel—a highly favored path.
