Yilan Literary Museum

Recognizing the importance of literature in cultural preservation and development, the Yilan County Government initiated the planning of the Yilan Literary Museum, aiming to create a dedicated space to preserve and promote Lanyang literature. The project includes two historical buildings: the former principal's residence of the agricultural school and the former secretary-general’s residence.
The main exhibition space—now the Yilan Literary Museum—is housed in the former principal's residence. This building was designated a historic site in 2001 and fully restored in 2004. The restoration successfully preserved the original architectural features and earned the 5th Golden Quality Award for Public Construction from the Executive Yuan, becoming a model for the revitalization of historic buildings.
The other building on site, the former secretary-general’s residence, is now home to Shang Shan Dou Jia, a vegetarian restaurant offering an elegant dining atmosphere. Both buildings are operated and maintained by Shanguo International Hospitality Co., Ltd. The museum also serves light refreshments and beverages, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of literature in a relaxed environment.
The Yilan Literary Museum officially opened on December 21, 2011, with a dual mission: to preserve cultural heritage and promote local literature. It provides a welcoming space for local literary groups and writers from across the country to write and connect. The museum also regularly hosts a variety of literary and arts events, striving to become a vibrant hub for multicultural exchange.
