The Diudiudang Forest is located directly in front of Yilan Railway Station and serves as a public space that integrates architectural aesthetics, artistic installations, and local culture. It currently functions as the “Baiguoshu Art and Culture Space.” Designed by renowned architect Huang Sheng-Yuan, its most iconic feature is a set of nine towering steel trees, each 14 meters tall. These trees symbolize the Cudrania (九芎) trees from Yilan’s old name “Jiujiong City,” blending metal structure with natural imagery to create a green symbol and cultural landmark in the urban landscape.
The park incorporates the whimsical style of picture book artist Jimmy Liao (幾米), featuring the dreamy “Jimmy’s Starry Train” installation and a charmingly nostalgic “Baiguoshu Red Brick House.” Whether during the day or at night, the space exudes warmth and poetic beauty, attracting families, art lovers, and travelers who come to take photos and enjoy a relaxing break.
