MLD TaLu Lifestyle Mall

MLD Kaohsiung (Metropolitan Living Development) is a multifunctional cultural and creative mall located in Qianzhen District, Kaohsiung. It combines dining, cinemas, bookstores, performance spaces, and banquet facilities into one integrated lifestyle hub. Officially opened on July 2, 2015, the mall is operated by Metropolitan Living Development Co., Ltd., and was transformed from the former Taiwan Aluminum Corporation factory. It now stands as a symbol of Kaohsiung’s urban regeneration and creative cultural transformation.
Covering approximately 12,000 ping (roughly 39,600 square meters), the mall retains the original industrial architecture, incorporating elements like black cement and red brick. It also preserves an 80-year-old Y-shaped steel structure, honoring Kaohsiung’s industrial legacy and paying tribute to the laborers who contributed to the city’s development.
Inside, MLD features an art-house cinema, independent bookstore, themed restaurants, performance spaces, and designer lifestyle boutiques. The space blends design aesthetics with daily leisure, making it a popular weekend destination for gatherings and shopping. It also serves as a preferred venue for cultural events and brand showcases.
