The Taipei Confucius Temple, also known as the Dalongdong Confucius Temple, is located in Bao’an Village, Datong District, Taipei City, Taiwan, near the famous Dalongdong Bao’an Temple. The temple was built on land donated by the Ku family of Lukang and the Chen Yueji family. Planning began in 1925 during the Japanese colonial period, with the intention of replacing the original Taipei Prefectural Confucian Temple. Occupying more than 4,000 ping (approximately 13,200 square meters), construction officially started in 1927 and was completed in 1939. The temple was built in the Quanzhou architectural style, with Wang Yishun serving as the chief engineer. In the 1990s, the building was designated a municipal historic site.
Every year on September 28, which is celebrated as Teachers' Day in the Gregorian calendar, the Confucius Temple holds the Autumn Sacrificial Ceremony in honor of Confucius. A government representative is sent to conduct the ritual, which includes the performance of the Yi Dance—a ceremonial dance reconstructed based on Ming dynasty rites—to express respect for the Great Sage and Teacher, Confucius.
