Songshan Cultural and Creative Park

Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (commonly known as "Songyan") is a multifunctional park located in the Xinyi District of Taipei City. It integrates culture, performances, and creative industries. The park was formerly the Songshan Tobacco Plant, established in 1939 and ceased operations in 1998. In 2001, the Taipei City Government designated the site as Municipal Historic Site No. 99, and in 2010, it was officially transformed into today’s Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
After World War II, the Songshan Tobacco Plant was extensively landscaped, and after its closure, it became the largest green space in Taipei's eastern district for a time. Through revitalization and transformation, it has now become one of the most important public art and cultural facilities in the area, preserving its historical character while incorporating creative design and exhibition spaces.
In addition to the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the original tobacco plant site also includes the Taipei Cultural and Creative Building and the Taipei Dome. These three facilities are operated by different entities. Unlike the heritage revitalization approach taken with Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the Taipei Cultural and Creative Building and the Taipei Dome were developed through the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model after the transformation of the tobacco plant.
