Otonashi Shinsui Park is a unique riverside park created by transforming the former riverbed of the Shakujii River. In the past, the Shakujii River was known for its calm and gentle flow, earning it the nickname “Silent River” (Muon-gawa) among the locals. Since ancient times, it has been a beloved spot for sightseeing and relaxation. To revive this historical atmosphere, residents renovated the old riverbed, creating a space with flowing water and abundant greenery.
Although the park is conveniently located near JR Ōji Station, an area with excellent transport access and modern amenities, stepping into it instantly offers a sense of tranquility very different from the urban surroundings. The sounds of running water, stone bridges, walking paths, and lush plants together create a peaceful and soothing environment, allowing visitors to momentarily forget the bustle of the city.
