Settsu City is a city in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Located on the right bank of the Yodo River, it is approximately 12 kilometers from central Osaka. With convenient transportation, it is part of the Osaka metropolitan area.
In terms of transportation, Settsu City is traversed by several major railways and highways. The Hankyu Railway Kyoto Line and JR West's Kyoto Line run from north to south through the western part of the city. The Osaka Monorail of the Osaka Rapid Railway and the Tokaido Shinkansen pass through the central area. Notably, the Tokaido Shinkansen has the Torikai Rail Yard within the city, and nearby is the Osaka Freight Terminal of Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight), giving Settsu City significance in freight transport and railway maintenance. Additionally, the Kinki Expressway runs through the center of the city, further strengthening its road transportation network.
However, in the eastern and southern parts of the city, there are currently no railway stations. As a result, local residents primarily rely on various bus lines—including Hankyu Bus, Kintetsu Bus, Keihan Bus, and Osaka City Bus—for daily commuting and travel.
In terms of natural environment and green spaces, Settsu City offers green areas along the Yodo River and Ai River. The Shinkansen Park, located on the north bank of the Ai River near the Osaka Freight Terminal, is a distinctive recreational area featuring displays of Shinkansen train cars and locomotives. Along the Yodo River, the Yodogawa Riverside Park is a national park that provides citizens with abundant outdoor activity space and natural scenery.
