Suita City

Suita City is located in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The southern area lies within the Osaka Plain, while the northern area consists of the Senri Hills. In 1970, Suita hosted the Japan World Exposition (Expo '70), one of the most significant historical events in the region.

Today, the professional football club Gamba Osaka, which competes in the Japan Professional Football League (J.League), uses the Suita City Football Stadium, located in the city, as its home ground.

Tracing back to the Ritsuryō period, most of what is now Suita City belonged to Shimashimo District of Settsu Province, while the southwestern part was part of Toyoshima District. During the Edo period, the area was mostly under the jurisdiction of the Yodo Domain, though some parts were controlled directly by the shogunate or belonged to hatamoto (direct retainers of the shogun), as well as the Takatsuki, Okada, and Okabe Domains.

After the Meiji Restoration, these areas underwent multiple administrative reorganizations, being assigned at different times to various administrative entities such as the Osaka Prefectural Agricultural Office, Kita Agricultural Office of Osaka Prefecture, Settsu Prefecture, Toyosaki Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Takatsuki Prefecture, Yodo Prefecture, Hanhara Prefecture, and Okada Prefecture. It was not until the first major merger of prefectures in 1871 that the area was officially consolidated under the jurisdiction of Osaka Prefecture.
