Taitung Forest Park

Located next to downtown Taitung, Taitung Forest Park is a vast windbreak forest of casuarina trees. Due to the dark green hue of the casuarina trees, the area appears as a dense, deep green forest from afar, earning it the nickname “Black Forest.” This park sits at the junction between the city and the ocean, covering an area of 280 hectares. It features diverse natural landscapes including estuarine wetlands, expansive grasslands, and lush forests—all offering refreshing and scenic views.
Within the park are three distinctive lakes: Pipa Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters; Egret Lake, ideal for birdwatching and ecological observation; and Flowing Lake, which is suitable for a variety of water activities. Each lake offers a unique sensory experience, making the park perfect for a leisurely bike ride and a peaceful retreat into nature.
