Zhushan Zinan Temple

Zhushan Zinan Temple, also known as Sheliao Zinan Temple, is a renowned temple in Taiwan dedicated to the Earth God (Fude Zhengshen). It is located in Sheliao Village, Zhushan Township, Nantou County, near the National Fire Agency Training Center. In accordance with the traditional custom of “Sky Lanterns in the North, Firecrackers in the South, and Dingjiu Feast in the Center,” the temple hosts its most vibrant and bustling event of the year—the “Dingjiu Feast”—on the 16th day of the first lunar month.
Zinan Temple is considered one of the three most famous Earth God temples in Taiwan, alongside Nanshan Fude Temple at Hongludi in Zhonghe, New Taipei, and Fuan Temple in Checheng, Pingtung. As the number of devotees and tourists has steadily grown, the temple has also become a well-known tourist attraction.
One of the most popular rituals during the Lunar New Year is visiting Zinan Temple to borrow “Prosperity Money”, symbolizing wishes for a prosperous year ahead and success in one’s endeavors. In addition to praying to the Earth God and Earth Goddess, worshippers also offer prayers to the Stone God, hoping for good luck and wealth—embodying the auspicious wish for fortune and abundance.
