Tiansongpi

Tiansongpi is a place name located in Sanxing Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. It encompasses the two villages of Tianfu and Tianshan and marks the point where the Lanyang River flows from the mountainous area into the plains.
In the past, there was a pond in Tiansongpi, located around what is now the Tienpi Branch of the Lanyang Power Plant. The name "Tiansongpi" was given in memory of Xu Tiansong. During the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese government diverted the pond’s water into the Annong River to construct a power generation facility, leading to the pond’s eventual disappearance.
Tiansongpi Railway Station bears witness to the history of forest resource development in Yilan. It is a symbol of railway culture and historical progress. The Luodong Forest Railway connected Zhulin Station in Luodong with the Taipingshan logging area. Starting in 1914, the Japanese began to enter Taipingshan, and in 1915, the logging of hinoki cypress began. The railway stretched 36.95 kilometers from Tuchang to Zhulin, with ten stations along the route.
These ten stations were Zhulin, Waiziwai, Dazhou, Erwanwu, Sanxing, Tiansongpi, Qingshui Lake, Niudou, Leshui, and Tuchang. Due to its narrow gauge and smaller train cars—about half the size of those on the main lines—it was commonly referred to as the "five-cent train." Among these, Tiansongpi Station, located in the middle of the route, is the best-preserved station today.
The Luodong Forest Railway operated from 1924 to 1979. It was used not only for transporting timber to Luodong but also served as a passenger train and once bustled with activity. Today, Tiansongpi Station has transformed into a cultural and artistic destination. It gained even more popularity after being used as a filming location for the idol drama Autumn's Concerto (Chinese title: 《下一站,幸福》), making it a must-visit check-in spot when visiting Sanxing Township.
