Oishi Park is located right next to the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and is a must-visit spot for many travelers. Its most striking feature is the wide-open view of Mt. Fuji as the backdrop. No matter the season, whether in the early morning or at dusk, visitors can admire Mt. Fuji in different moods. Because of the park’s flat terrain with few obstructions, it offers a clear and direct view of the majestic mountain from the lakeside. Under favorable weather conditions, you may even witness the breathtaking “Upside-Down Fuji,” where the mountain is reflected in the lake.
The park’s most famous season is the lavender bloom in summer. From late June to mid-July, vast fields of purple lavender spread across the lakeshore, creating a dreamy contrast with the snow-capped Mt. Fuji in the distance. During this period, the “Fuji Kawaguchiko Lavender Festival” is held, attracting many visitors for sightseeing and photography. Besides lavender, nemophila and tulips bloom in spring, roses in early summer, pampas grass, autumn foliage, and colorful kochia in fall. Even in winter, when flowers are scarce, the crisp air makes Mt. Fuji’s silhouette appear sharper, making it an excellent time to enjoy the snow-covered peak.
Oishi Park is more than just a flower-viewing spot—it is also a relaxing space for strolling and picnicking. Walking paths run along the lakeshore, allowing visitors to take leisurely walks while enjoying the mountain and lake scenery. Nearby cafés and small stalls let you sip coffee while gazing at Mt. Fuji, savoring a tranquil moment. Since the park is directly connected to the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, many visitors plan both together: shopping for local specialties or tasting blueberry ice cream at the center first, then heading to the park to admire flowers and take photos. Together, they create a complete lakeside experience.
