Mount Showa Shinzan
Showa-shinzan is a volcano located in Sobetsu Town, Usu District, Hokkaido, Japan, and is part of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. The volcano was formed during eruptions that occurred between December 1943 and September 1945. In 2007, Showa-shinzan, along with Mount Usu, was selected as one of the "Top 100 Geological Sites of Japan." Today, due to the effects of the cold climate and erosion, the mountain is gradually shrinking.
