Wannian Commercial Building

The Wannian Commercial Building is located in Ximending, a popular hotspot beloved by international tourists and young people alike. Inside, it offers a wide variety of products favored by teenagers, such as trendy clothing, sneakers, perfumes, mobile phones, video games, toys, and comic magazines.

The building’s exterior features a green theme, with a prominent neon sign displaying the building’s name vertically across several floors at the triangular corner, making it highly eye-catching. In earlier years, it housed the famous Wannian Ice Palace, which included two rinks—one for roller skates and another for blade skates. As the roller-skating craze declined in the 1970s, the building was temporarily converted into an MTV cinema, and later gradually evolved into a department store. The basement level was developed into a food court. Many well-known old eateries, such as beef noodle shops and vermicelli stalls, originated here before expanding to other locations.

Today, the first floor focuses on premium imported accessories and features cosmetics counters, along with Bonny & Read, a popular online brand known for affordable silver jewelry. The middle floors are home to stores selling trendy apparel, anime figures, and video games. The fourth floor specializes in toy models and anime merchandise from Europe, America, and Japan, and houses veteran shops like Donghai Models & Toys, Ai Yu Models, and Magazine Craze. The fifth floor hosts the Taipei Jin Wannian branch of Tom’s World amusement center.

The basement is a paradise for food lovers, gathering numerous popular long-established eateries including “Jinyuan Pork Chop,” “Old Shandong Beef Noodles,” and well-known street snacks such as tempura, Dian Xiao Er, frog eggs (a sweet drink), and Bitter Tea House. It also features casual meals, hot pot, Kenting-style steak, and teppanyaki.
