Dapo Pond

Dapo Pond, formerly known as Dapi Pond, has also been referred to by various names such as "Dapi Pond," "Dapei Pond," or "Chishang Dapi." In earlier times, it was recognized as one of the "Ten Scenic Spots of Taitung" under the name "Fishing at Chishang." Its main water sources come from the underground flow of the Xinwulu River, as well as overflow water discharged from irrigation canals used in nearby farmlands. The pond’s water flows out from a drainage outlet on the north side and serves as one of the sources of the Xiuguluan River.

This area is also a valuable wetland ecosystem, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Many endemic plant species grow around the pond, often attracting rare birds and other wildlife to inhabit and reproduce here.

Every year during July and August, the local community hosts a grand "Bamboo Raft Festival." On weekends, bamboo raft experiences are offered, providing visitors with a unique and charming way to explore the lake. Gliding leisurely across the water on a bamboo raft, weaving through lush lotus leaves, visitors can enjoy the scenic lakeside views and feel as if they have stepped back in time to a simpler, more peaceful era.
