Roppongi Hills Mori Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Roppongi district of Minato City, Tokyo, and serves as the centerpiece of the Roppongi Hills urban redevelopment project. Officially opened in October 2003, the tower is known for its distinctive design and multifunctional nature, integrating business, culture, and tourism into a single skyscraper complex.
The Mori Tower stands 238 meters tall, with 54 floors above ground and 6 below, plus two rooftop tower levels. Its total floor area reaches 380,000 square meters. At the time of its completion, it was the second-largest building in scale after the Sears Tower (now Willis Tower) in Chicago, making it one of the largest skyscrapers in the world.
The building features a diverse range of spaces: the lower floors house a shopping center with numerous brand-name stores and restaurants; the middle floors are mainly leased as office space, accommodating various international and innovative companies; and the upper floors are home to cultural facilities, most notably the Mori Art Museum. This membership-based museum showcases exhibitions in contemporary art, design, and architecture.
On the 52nd floor and rooftop, the "Tokyo City View" observation facilities offer breathtaking panoramic views. The rooftop observatory stands at an altitude of 270 meters, making it the highest open-air observation deck in Tokyo. On clear days, visitors can enjoy views of Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Bay, making it a popular spot for tourists and photography enthusiasts.
