Yunshanshui (雲山水), located in Shoufeng Township, Hualien, has rapidly risen in popularity in recent years and is often praised as Hualien’s “hidden European paradise.” At the heart of the estate lies Dream Lake, a crystal-clear body of water that reflects the changing seasons and shifting light—sometimes serene and tranquil, sometimes dazzlingly dreamlike—captivating visitors at first sight.
Yunshanshui is privately owned, and Dream Lake itself is man-made, though parts of the grounds are open to the public, drawing many tourists. Since there are still private residences within the park, visitors are asked to remain quiet, respect residents’ privacy, and refrain from bringing in vehicles. The estate covers about 24 hectares, with Dream Lake occupying around 4 hectares. Small fish swim in its waters, while migratory and local birds forage along the shores, enriching its ecological diversity. Palms, seasonal flowers, and broadleaf trees planted around the lake create varied scenery year-round, making it a favorite destination for photographers.
Yunshanshui became especially famous after being featured in a HeySong soda commercial. The emerald green bald cypress forest reflected in the lake, shimmering with layered sunlight, together with European-style guesthouses and expansive lawns, creates the illusion of being in another country. In spring, irises sway gracefully by the lake; in autumn, the stone-paved paths come alive with the sound of flowing water and the fiery transformation of bald cypress leaves, evoking the vision of a “water forest.”
The estate also includes a botanical farm and multiple boutique guesthouses, offering visitors the chance to extend their stay and experience the scenery more deeply. At dawn, the lake merges with drifting mists and faint mountain silhouettes; at midday, sunlight gilds the trees, unveiling yet another majestic view.
