Wuqi District is located in the western part of Taichung City, on the western side of the Qingshui Plain. With its flat terrain, it is one of the smaller administrative districts in the city. The area has a long history and was formerly known as "Wucha Port," with its previous status as "Wuqi Township." With urban development and the construction of Taichung Port, Wuqi District has gradually transformed into a hub for both industry and commerce. The district houses the Taichung Port-Linked Industrial Zone and Zhonggang Technology Industrial Park, bringing abundant employment opportunities and economic momentum to the region.
As the site of Taichung Port, Wuqi District has been designated as part of the "Taichung Port Special Zone" in the city's urban planning. Many port-related administrative and logistics facilities are concentrated here, supporting port operations and industrial development.
