Calligraphy Greenway, officially named, is a linear urban space corridor located in Taichung City, Taiwan. Stretching from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the Art Garden Parkway in the south, it connects to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and seamlessly integrates nature, culture, and daily life to form an artistic and human-centered urban green belt. Inspired by the fluid beauty of semi-cursive (xíngcǎo) Chinese calligraphy, the design emphasizes a balance of openness and density, movement and stillness—like free brushstrokes on paper.
Along the Calligraphy Greenway, one finds numerous cultural and lifestyle nodes such as Civic Square, CMP Block (Park Lane by CMP), performance venues, and food & shopping districts. The greenway features both expansive grassy plazas and serene tree-lined paths with artistic installations, offering a distinct urban rhythm that shifts with each section.
The English name “Calligraphy Greenway” reflects its design inspiration from the expressive strokes of semi-cursive calligraphy, symbolizing a spatial rhythm that is both elegant and dynamic.
