Longjing District

Longjing District is located in the southwestern part of Taichung City, situated on the northern bank of the lower Dadu River, spanning the Qingshui Plain and the southern side of the Dadu Plateau. It is a region that blends natural landscapes with rich cultural history. The name "Longjing" originates from "Longmu Well"; when "Longjing Village" was established in 1920, the name was formed by combining the first and last characters, and it has been used ever since. The historic "Longmu Well" still remains in the district today, bearing witness to the area's heritage.

Originally known as "Longjing Township," the district was reclassified as part of Taichung City due to urban development and administrative adjustments. Agriculture remains a key feature here, with abundant crops such as Jinlan watermelon, sweet potatoes, peanuts, green foxtail, and rapeseed flowers, highlighting its strong rural character and pastoral charm.

Longjing also boasts various tourism and cultural resources. Notable attractions include the Donghai Villa Night Market, located near Tunghai University, featuring a vibrant mix of local snacks and creative products—an important venue for nightlife in the area. Meanwhile, the "International Art Street" is known for its artistic and cultural creativity, drawing many tourists and artists alike.

Additionally, the district is home to several unique historical buildings and religious sites, such as the municipally designated Longjing Lin Residence, the "Chen Sangan Ancestral Hall" in the Qietou area (also known as Qietou Chen Residence), the Shuiligang Fushun Temple (which also houses the Shuiligang Cultural Relics Museum), Longquanyan Patriarch Temple, and the Longjing Master Qiao Sheng Temple—all reflecting the area's deep religious and family traditions.

Other recommended destinations include the Hende Memorial Park, Zhukeng Chen Residence, Xinzhuang Yongshun Temple, Panding Church, and the "Twelve Rhymes – Longjing Central Store," offering diverse travel experiences and local charm.
