Dongshan River Water Park

The Dongshan River Water Park is located in Wujie Township, Yilan County, Taiwan, adjacent to the Dongshan River. Construction began in 1987, and the park officially opened on June 13, 1994.

The park was designed with the concept of integrating the natural features of the Dongshan River, emphasizing "getting close to the water and embracing greenery." It also extensively uses traditional local building materials, creating a unique style that blends simplicity with elegance.

Making full use of the river’s water resources, the park was planned as an open space that harmonizes water and greenery. Its diverse water facilities serve multiple purposes, including tourism, recreation, leisure, and education. Upon completion, the water park was praised as the most beautiful, distinctive, and highest-quality public project in Taiwan, and has consistently ranked first among public scenic areas in terms of both visitor numbers and ticket revenue. At the end of 1994, it was awarded the "1994 Tokyo Creative Award – Overseas Prize" by the Tokyo Fashion Association in Japan.

Today, the park hosts Yilan's annual Dragon Boat Festival and the International Children's Folklore & Folkgame Festival, making it one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist attractions, beloved by both domestic and international visitors.
