Zhuangwei Township is located on the Lanyang Plain in eastern Yilan County, Taiwan. Situated near the lower reaches and estuary of the Lanyang River, it faces the Pacific Ocean to the east and is close to Yilan City. This coastal rural area is characterized by a harmonious blend of ocean and countryside scenery. The terrain is generally flat, with sandy soil that offers excellent drainage and abundant year-round sunlight, making Zhuangwei an ideal location for agriculture.
Agriculture is the main industry in Zhuangwei. The fertile land and convenient irrigation systems support the cultivation of a variety of crops, especially root vegetables such as peanuts, radishes, watermelons, and yams. The township is also known for its high-quality fruits and scallions. Notably, its rice production is renowned, making it one of the three major rice-producing regions in Taiwan and showcasing its agricultural strength and uniqueness.

This traditional fishing technique is still preserved today as part of local cultural experiences. In 2016, the Bu-hou Community organized Qian-gu experience activities, allowing participants to engage in and appreciate this ancient fishing village tradition firsthand.
