What is PM2.5?

PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers, about 1/28 the width of a human hair. Because of their tiny size, PM2.5 particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and even enter the bloodstream. Long-term exposure may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory illnesses, and cancer.
