Global SO₂ (Sulfur Dioxide) AQI Map
This is an interactive global sulfur dioxide (SO₂) AQI map that displays the local SO₂ concentration index in real time based on the user’s location. Users can also drag the map to explore SO₂ conditions worldwide, understand regional differences in air quality, and use it as a reference for travel and health protection.
What is Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂)
Sulfur dioxide (SO₂) is a colorless gas with a pungent odor, mainly produced by the burning of sulfur-containing fossil fuels (such as coal and oil), volcanic activity, and certain industrial processes. Short-term exposure to high SO₂ levels may cause coughing, worsen asthma, and lead to respiratory discomfort; long-term exposure may damage lung function and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, SO₂ reacts with water and oxygen in the atmosphere to form acid rain, which harms the environment and ecosystems.
