Ibaraki Town is located in central Ibaraki Prefecture, within Higashiibaraki District of the Ken'ō region. It is a town-level administrative area situated on the Kanto Plain, just south of Mito City. The town is rich in natural resources, with its eastern side bordering Lake Hinuma, the 30th largest lake in Japan. This lake is a registered Ramsar Wetland, recognized for its ecological importance and value for birdwatching. Both the Hinuma River and Maehinuma River run through the town, adding vibrant aquatic elements to the local natural landscape.
Although no railway lines currently pass through the town, a local railway line between Mito-Tanamachi and Okuya once briefly operated during the Showa era. Today, Ibaraki Town is well connected via expressways. In the north, the Kita-Kanto Expressway runs through the area with two interchanges: Ibaraki Town West and East. The central part of the town is traversed by the Higashi-Kanto Expressway, with access provided by the Ibaraki Airport North interchange. This convenient transportation network supports both industrial development and efficient logistics.
Ibaraki Town is also actively promoting industrial growth. It hosts the Ibaraki Central Industrial Park near the western interchange and the Ibaraki Industrial Park in the central area of the town, contributing to a stable industrial structure and employment environment.
