Takahagi City, located in the northeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, belongs to the northern region of the prefecture. It faces the Pacific Ocean to the east and borders the Abukuma Mountains (also known as the Taga Mountains) to the west, making it a city blessed with both coastal and mountainous landscapes. Approximately 85% of the city area consists of forests and natural fields, showcasing a rich natural environment.

Takahagi’s topography stretches from mountainous regions to the coastline, creating diverse natural scenery. Three major rivers — the Okita River, the Sekine River, and the Hanazono River — flow from the mountains toward the sea. The lower reaches of the Okita River also pass through the neighboring city of Kitaibaraki. These rivers provide abundant water resources and foster various waterside and ecological attractions in the area.
